Country: Morocco

A dying Marcus Aurelius plans to name his loyal and brave General Maximus as his successor in order to restore the power of the Roman Senate. However, his power-hungry, jealous son Commodus learns of the plan, murders Marcus Aurelius, and plans to execute Maximus in order to secure his claim to the throne. Maximus escapes execution, but is sold into slavery and is forced to become a gladiator. Eventually, Maximus and his fellow gladiators are sent to Rome to perform for Commodus. Through his bravery he wins over the masses and reveals his true identity, much to the chagrin of Commodus. Can Maximus use his newfound popularity to avenge Marcus Aurelius" death, or will Commodus be able to keep the throne?

Hans Zimmer has never made a bad soundtrack. Movie night gladiator youtube. Remind me of my passed father when he gazes and sees his family. Beautiful. Movie night gladiator 2. Movie night gladiator movie. Movie night gladiator boots. The film is well made, well acted and a fantastically fluid yarn. I have seen this film over ten times, yet still feel an overwhelming sense of sadness and discomfort after doing so.
That is why I cannot consolidate or agree with lines like "edge of your seat fun. Lets face it, the guys son is murdered, his wife is raped and butchered, both are burned. The hero gives up a life of comfort as a General in the Legion over his principles and beliefs, and this is how he is repayed?
Almost everyone in the film end up dead, there are long scenes of dreamscapes and wind rushed grass, yet still I find myself drawn to this story.
Whether its Crowes masterful performance(aided ably by a skilled cast) or Scott"s knowing direction, the film strikes me as a classic-now, and for years to come, albeit a depressive one.

This movie is fantastic!
All the performances ranged from good/great to great/fantastic.
The story was solid, even though it may not have been the best ever written.
The cinematography was rich and interesting. The sets/CGI are fantastic, You"d think ancient Rome still existed today.
For some reason I kept getting reminders of The Phantom Menace, in both the visuals, and dialogue/plot. I liked the look of the Phantom Menace, but was dissapointed in the execution slightly. This movie made my opinion towards Episode I even less favourable.
No not everyone will love it, but only the TRUELY cinical will think that it is the worst movie they have ever seen.
My advice is see it for yourself.
